Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 Review

Best Point and Shoot Digital Camera – The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 is a camera that fits into any lifestyle or adventure and measuring around six inches long and weighing less than a pound can easily fit into a pocket without weighing you down. For such a small camera it also packs a lot of punch being waterproof, freeze proof, shockproof and dustproof, but the destruction proof features aren’t the only reason to buy this camera. With other features like a three inch touch screen, video recording at 1080 – full HD resolution and photographs taken at 16.2 megapixels; the camera pretty much sells itself.

 Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 Features:

  • Waterproof down to 16 feet deep and Shockproof up to a 5 feet drop
  • High Definition Video Recording – 1080 at 60i for video with less distortion
  • 16.2 megapixels for cleaner, sharper looking images
  • Smile Shutter so a smile is never missed because of a slow shutter

For the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 users who read the instruction manual and cared for the camera as specified when exposing the TX10 to certain elements there were no complaints, with average user ratings at four and five stars. Many consumers stated that the TX10 digital camera
was “the best family vacation camera ever.” Users ranted and raved about the high-resolution picture quality any where outdoors, indoors, low light and even underwater.

Consumers also loved the fact that there were so many color choices available, from the sophisticated and sleek black or silver, to the fun colors of hot pink, blue and yellow; it made it easy to find a color anyone would be happy with. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 reviewers said there was a slight learning curve to understand the special features, but didn’t consider it a complaint because the manual detailed how to get the most out of the camera, so that photographs and videos turned out the best.

The complaints related to the TX10 were due to the waterproof feature. Some users complained that the seals leaked causing water damage. After contacting Sony customer service about the issue it was not covered under warranty and would cost more than the original purchase price to fix.

This issue; however, was addressed by many four and five-star reviewers that said they had no underwater issues, but took the time to read the instruction manual. One reviewer, after reading the complaints about the camera’s underwater problems, placed the camera in water at 13 feet deep for an hour when he received it in the mail and after thoroughly cleaning the TX10 had no problems with it. He also said that he followed the instruction manual step by step.

It’s hard to say whether or not certain camera buyers had faulty cameras that caused the seals to leak, but the majority of Sony Cyber Shot DSC-TX10 had no issues.

All in all the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC TX10 is a great investment and will take stunning photos, but word to the wise; if you aren’t big on instruction manuals and proper care and plan to use it underwater this may not be the camera for you.
